Intro: 

What are these things?

These are mods for the dolphin emulator  and the Glide (and GLideN64) N64 plugin

Can I use your textures for my own project?

The answer to this is probably ‘yes, as long as you link back here and make sure people know they’re mine’ but ask me first anyway: its polite and i wanna see what you use them for :P

Can you run these on the original consoles?

because these are high resolution mods they wont run on the N64, Gamecube or Wii. 

However if you have a Modded Wii its possible to load low res, custom textures on some games. Its really complicated tho and i have no experience with it. 

WW general questions:

When will you release updates for Dolphins new texture format?

  • All the packs currently use the newest dolphin texture format

is the wind waker pack finished?

  • Its finished!

how much is done? have you retextured [x] area?

  • All of it!

How much RAM do you need to prefetch the textures?

  • currently, using the latest ishiiruka version, the textures take up about 2.5GBs of space in RAM. 

is the dark skinned princess/four swords link/hilda/sabriel etc. for download?

  • every mod for custom WW characters/items is for download

is there a HUD mod for the Xbox/PS3/Wii U Pro controller?

  • yes

is there a HUD mod for the Steam controller?

  • there isn’t and there wont be because of all the possible configurations it allows (sorry)

where can i download the rom?

  • please don’t ask this

Mario Craft 64 questions:

is it finished?

  • yep, the whole game is retextured!

how long did it take to do the whole game?

  • a month or two, (ignoring the long break i took)

when will the dolphin version come out?

  • it’s already out and actually a more recent version than the Glide version (i.e some textures are redone + higher resolution etc.)

Viewtiful Joe Questions:

Are you doing the whole game?

  • No. I may run the environment stuff through a filter but I’m only doing the HUD/screen stuff

When will this be out?

  • It’s already out but unfinished. Updates will be sporadic because they only happen after i’ve gotten into the mood to play iy :P

Majora’s Mask questions:

is it for download?

  • No.

whats it for?

  • Dolphin

when will you release it?

  • Not sure. I havent worked on it for ages and, as much as i’d like to finish it, my disabilities make it difficult for me to work on large projects outside of my job.

  • no

  • some of them are available to download for my patreons (mainly because i dont want to have to put together proper releases with readmes etc.)

  • nope

is the majora’s mask link redesign a mod/for download?

  • nope, it’s neither. it’s just me having fun with concepting and building an art style


Wind Waker PROBLEMS!

what are your dolphin settings?

what are your PC specs?

  • Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R Rev 2

i’m using your wind waker mod but your textures aren’t loading?

  • most common problems:
  1. you’ve put the folder in the wrong place! make sure it’s in the right place! for later versions of dolphin thats ‘“documents/dolphin emulator/load/textures” for earlier versions its “[EMULATOR LOCATION]/user//load/textures”
  2. you’re using the wrong graphics backend! (the option to change it is in the ‘graphics> general’ tab)
  3. You haven’t renamed the folder from ‘GZLE01’ to ‘GZLJ01’ for the japanese iso or ‘GZLP01’ for the EU iso
  4. if your version of dolphin is new enough then you’ll actually need to change  ‘GZLE01’  to  ‘GZL’ regardless of which iso you use  

i did that but the item icons still aren’t loading right! what am i doing wrong?

  • sounds like you’re using an older version of dolphin, this works fine with the new pack

i get stuttering when i use the mod, how do i fix this?

  • new versions of dolphin let you prefetch textures which fixes all stuttering. however you need over 24GB of RAM for it to work with this pack. Seriously i have 24GB and i still cant get it to load

so how can i get wind waker to run faster?

  • the best thing is to turn down/off the anti-aliasing options, turning off v sync and putting it at a lower resolution, otherwise you’ll basically need a faster computer

okay but everything in the distance is blurry?

  • thats controlled by the ‘scaled EFB Copy’ option in the enhancements tab. make sure it’s ticked (also it will look better the higher the resolution you render at)

what version of dolphin do you use?

  • 64bit version of whatever the very latest version is

  • sure, i will definitely do my best (kinda have a bad memory so if i don’t tag right i promise it’s an accident!)

can you take a picture of [something in wind waker]?

  • i can’t make any promises but i do read all these and try to remember them when i’m taking screenshots.

can you make [alternate wind waker outfit]?

  • maybe! the retexturing i can do with wind waker characters is very limited so only very simple things can be done. also i dont tend to do most of these requests unless i really like the idea. you’re welcome to suggest them tho

can you replace [wind waker model]?

  • nope, you can (there are tools out there now) but i dont have the time

can i use your screenshots/art as an icon/wallpaper/tumblr background?

  • you can use them for all those but if you use them for a background pls put a link back here!

can i use your textures for personal projects?

  • Yep, sure. if you upload them online just link back here and lemme know (i’d love to see what you do with them!)

are you going to do more majora’s mask redesigns?

  • i hope so, just kinda too busy to work on it right now

how long have you been playing zelda for?

  • since.. 1996? i think

what was your first zelda game?

  • link to the past

whats your favourite zelda game?

  • i honestly have no idea because they’re all so good but as far as 3D Zeldas i love WW and MM, and as far as 2D Zeldas its LTTP and LA. but yeah they’re all great

what do you think of WWHD?

  • its still ww and i appreciate a lot of the gameplay tweaks but i’m not a fan of most of the artistic changes

art related questions:

what do you paint in?

  • photoshop cs5 64 bit with a wacom intuos 4

what do you model in?

  • blender, but if you’re going to start learning from scratch i’d recommend 3dsmax. I also do sculpting in Zbrush which is a very handy tool

how do you make things?

how long have you been modelling/texturing?

  • i started 2008 tho i’ve only been doing it consistently since about 2015 (consistently as in more than once a week)

how long have you been drawing?

  • on and off most of my life, starting trying to do art properly in 2006 but only really drew 2-3 times a year until about 2012. most of what i draw ends up in my ‘hypatia’s art’ tag so you can see how (little) i tend to draw (it’s a flaw of mine, i know)

  • nope

how do you pronounce ‘hypatia’?

  • ¯\( ◕ ◡ ◕ ) /¯ (honestly all the pronunciations i’ve heard are cool)
  • you can pronounce the ‘hy’ like ‘high’ or like ‘him’
  • you can pronounce the ‘pa’ as ‘pay’ or ‘pah’
  • you can have a separation between the ‘pa’ and the ‘t’ or you can pronounce them as one syllable (‘pay-ti’ vs ‘patti’)
  • you can pronounce the ‘ti’ as ‘she’ or ‘tea’
  • you can seperate the final ‘i’ and ‘a’ sounds or you can merge them. (shah vs she-ah)

  • we’ve been through all this: no and the possibility of a resonance cascade scenario is extremely unlikely.
